Writer-actor Shiv Subramaniam passes away, confirms filmmaker

 After a long battle with lung cancer and brain tumor, rising Indian filmmaker and writer Shiv Subramaniam passed away on Monday. He was 51 years old.

Known for his work in film and theater productions, Subramaniam had also written the children's book 'Giant' at the time of his death. In a statement, his family said that the filmmaker was surrounded by his loved ones when he passed away.

"He was surrounded by his wife and two sons when he passed away. He died peacefully and with dignity," said Subramaniam's wife Amrita and daughters in a joint statement.
