Suspected case of avian flu found in Manitoba birds
The area is exploring after an associated case with avian influenza was found in Manitoba wild birds. Tests from a few birds close to Waskada and in the Dauphin region are being tried.
Flare-ups of the exceptionally pathogenic strain H5N1 have been identified in Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario and Alberta since late 2021.
From that point forward, around 260,000 birds have been euthanized or killed by the infection in Canada. Around 166,000 of those were in Alberta and 84,000 were in Ontario.
