The first round of the 2022 NFL Draft is officially complete, and for a class that promised mock draft mayhem, it certainly delivered.
Thursday night's action in Las Vegas started off with a run of elite defenders, quickly wiping way any thoughts of potentially seeing a quarterback taken early. But soon after the edge rushers took centre stage, the spotlight swiftly shifted to wide receivers who ultimately stole the show.
Once the Atlanta Falcons grabbed their guy in Drake London at eighth overall, the race to land other WRs was set in motion, with teams trading down to take them. The biggest name at the position to move on Thursday night, however, wasn't a prospect but a pro -- in a shocking move, the Tennessee Titans dealt star receiver A.J. Brown to the Philadelphia Eagles for the 18th overall pick after contract talks with Brown reportedly fell through. The Titans didn't take long to replace him, selecting Treylon Burks (a prospect who'd earned widespread comparisons to Brown's skillset by analysts around the league) with the pick received from Philly.
The Arizona Cardinals also landed a new wide receiver, sending their 23rd overall pick to Baltimore in exchange for Marquise Brown… and considering the timing of Lamar Jackson's Twitter activity Thursday night, it seems the MVP QB wasn't all too impressed by the move.
Thursday night saw just one quarterback taken: Kenny Pickett won't have far to travel, the Pittsburgh QB landing with the Steelers.
A string of trades saw teams move up and down the draft order to get their guys, making for an incredibly entertaining evening that kept everyone on their toes.
To recap the action, we've got all 32 selections right here along with some smart insights from those tweeting along with every pick.
