 what is SSL

the abbreviation SSL stands for Secure Sockets Layer but what it really is is a protocol for encrypting all the communication between you and the website that you are interacting with you can tell if a website is using SSL by looking at its web address if it has HTTPS that means it's using SSL and if there's a little lock and it says connection is secure then the SSL certificate is working

if you go to a site that does not have SSL then in Chrome it will say not secure in Firefox it doesn't say this but if you click the little I here it will say that your connection is not secure now practically what this means is that if you search for something on your favorite shopping site then that request was encrypted

so if you're on open Wi-Fi at a coffee shop or something nobody can tell that you're going to a shopping site and you're looking for movies or more importantly putting in your credit card so in this day and age any time you're doing anything on a website that you don't want other people to know about make sure it's using SSL by looking for the HTTPS and the little lock if you'd like even more great content check out Webnewster.xyz
